1. Where do you teach?

2. What hours are you available? I currently have openings for private lessons at the following times:

Classes offered Monday-Thursday from 8-10pm and all day on Sunday until 8pm.

3. Could you tell me more about what kinds of classes you teach and your background?

I started playing coronet but my 6Th grade music teacher told me "there are too many brass and very little percussion" so she moved me to drums...So like every young boy who loves music I started to play drums (drum set).

I started playing drums professionally with my father's band at the age of 16. I didn't last too long as my preference of music was adding too much color to polka music :)

I currently play in the band for Ruben V and sit in with various musicians from around the Texas area - recording, writing, and playing.

Ever since I took it upon myself to study ethnic music and the world of percussion - it opened my eyes to a whole different outlook on music. I am self-taught because growing up there was no source of teachers in this town for world music. It was challenging to stay motivated but the outcome of learning music was beautiful and I enjoy teaching what I love to others.

DRUM SET:
Rudiments are a very important tool to a drummer. I highly recommend the student to continues this off and on classes. Basic theory will help tremendously with their skills for further learn either for work or fun. Styles of drumming, polyrhytmic coordination etc...

HAND DRUMS:
Learning counting in cycles, Rudiments, Styles of drumming, learning the different kinds of hand drums. Include; Bata, Congas, Bongos, Tambourine, Frame drums, talking drums etc....

OTHER PERCUSSION:
Depending if your a professional or a novice, it is helpful to take a class on other percussion instruments that are not of drums. This will be Udu, Cajon, Shekere, Bells of all sorts etc...
