Monica Wright was born 25 years ago in Las Vegas, NV. Within 2 years, her parents carried her away to Okinawa, Japan, a place where she'd spend a majority of her formative years while occasionally frequenting the Philippines.

She grew up listening to albums of Cher, Roberta Flack, the Carpenters, Tony Bennett, and Michael Jackson on her father's old record player. Today her influences especially include Donny Hathaway, Jeff Buckley, Tori Amos, and Eva Cassidy.

Wright is also one-half of the songwriting team MerMon Music along with photographer and writer Mercy Gary.

Wright’s musical philosophy is that music helps us to connect with the human experience. By incorporating practiced technique with the color of emotion, music synergizes our logic with our senses.
