3. Could you tell me more about what kinds of classes you teach and your background?

Ricardo Stern studied 8 years in the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Mexico City. His teachers were among the best pianists in Mexico. He´s been teaching piano and musical appreciation for 15 years.

His approach to teaching is mainly classical. For him the classical music provides not only the finest playing experience, but also the best basis for any other kind of music the student would like to play in the future.

His method is based on Theodore Leschetizky´s (a famous Polish pianist) theories, as well as Karl Czerny´s etudes, which are very musical and perfect to achieve a good technique at the same time. Later on come Bach, Haydn, Schumann and Bartok, each of which introduces a different period of the history of music: Baroque, Romantic and Modern, respectively.

Reading music accurately is very important. A part of the class will be dedicated for that purpose.

Another very important part in Ricardo´s method is to devote a part of the class to improve musical culture in the student and that way to motivate him or her to continue studying and resolving the challenges that might present on the way.
